The SMART concept

Smart card - a plastic card with an embedded microchip made for user authentication and data storage.

Smart House (intelligent building) - centralized management of various engineering systems in the house.

Smart house - is an automated complex that technically can coordinate all of the processes in the house. Smart house centrally manages various engineering systems in the house, forcing them to function concertedly. Smart House coordinates the work of heating system, under floor heating, air-conditioning and ventilation systems, fire alarm systems and access control systems, monitors the working order of all the equipment, warning a host of faults or emergencies. Smart home functions as monitoring and controlling system, using a technical intelligence programmed base.

Smart City (Digital City) – a digital infrastructure and a set of services focused on solving the problems of life support and the provision of electronic services to citizens.

Digital City: transportation management, housing, safe city, emergency doors control system, electronic services, social cards.

E-Government - Electronic documents management system of government based on the automation of the entire set of management processes across the country and aiming at the improvement of the efficiency of the government authorities work and reducing the costs of social communications for every member of society. Creation of the e-government requires the construction of a distributed state-wide system of public administration that implements the solution of a complete range of tasks associated with documents managing and their processing/

Electronic campus

Modern universities look like small towns. They have libraries, concert halls, gymnasiums, swimming pools , shops , hospitals , hotels, dormitories, offices , restaurants, cafeterias, parking areas, lecture halls , payment centers, payment terminals. They are inhabited by students, teachers and staff , they receive guests - applicants, parents, employers, partners. In order for this to function  so that each resident and guest has an access to resources and services in accordance with their role , the university requires:

Technical infrastructure - computer network , including wireless access equipment, computer equipment, telecommunication and communication devices , presentation and video equipment , mobile devices for access to digital resources , systems and resource access control, alarm and video surveillance systems.

Information Infrastructure  implemented in the form of digital resources , applications and services of the corporate information environment.

A single attribute for access to the university resources - personal identification card (such as proximity or smart).

The concept of the electronic campus can reveal the university potential on a greater scale, it optimizes the use of all available resources of the university . The model of the digital campus implemented at the present moment in the university provides students with :

  • the access to the territory and to the dormitories with help of ID card ;
  • the access to the Internet and digital resources from all parts of the university campus through a wired or wireless network ;
  • the access to the library and to multiple educational content such as text materials, graphics, video and audio materials, class presentations , video lectures , tests, etc.
  • the access to video service via video streaming;
  • the access to class and office hours attending from remote locations - through video conferencing and webinars , that increases the mobility of students, provides communication with teachers and other students , members of affiliate programs of the university;
  • the access to sport facilities , health care;
  • the access to the services of the University portal - an individual student learning plan , classes schedule , students academic performance, course papers and dissertations drafting , conducting student projects , payments and tuition control, etc.
  • the access to the territory and premises showing plastic identification card;

Digital campus provides for the faculty and staff :

  • the access to the Internet and digital resources from every place in the university campus through a wired or wireless network
  • the access to the library
  • the ability to publish educational content (text , presentations , video) ;
  • the ability to read lectures for students through remote video conferencing, webinars and the opportunity to teach , being remote from the campus
  • the access to a parking lot ;
  • the access to sports facilities, health services, as well as the food service
  • the ability to implement their  business ideas in different areas, with the help of IT , achieving better results at lower cost and with greater efficiency
  • Monitoring automation – including monitoring the students body, staff , graduate students , alumni , property , real estate, library fund, educational resources, research projects , attendance, maintenance of the facilities , expenses, income , publications and much more
  • Money flow automation – including payments of salary, timesheets monitoring , depreciation calculation, students and faculty workload calculation, scholarships payment, traffic , purchases , tuition , internet , dormitory rent , services, sports , medicine, food service , etc.
  • Process Automation – including the development of educational programs and curricula, academic process scheduling, individual learning paths , making schedules , issuing orders , contracts, websites up-dating , scheduling exam periods , practices, exams , application process , planning and reporting activities of the units , control access to resources , repair planning , costs, revenues, and more
  • the access to the necessary relevant information on all aspects of the university

In the process of management of the university campus electronic services through EIS provides:

  •  Organizational structure and staff management
  • The decision-making on the basis of corporate information environment application
  • The use of aggregated data repositories  and data analysis methods
  • Using methods and techniques of analysis of business processes (Business Intelligence)
  • The use of an electronic documents management system for all document-oriented processes
  • The  compliance standards monitoring
  • Planning and reporting activities

Innovations in high school (the information technologies are the basis for innovation in the management and organization of the academic process) - are the stepping stones to a highly competitive university. The progress made to get such an objective by VSUES was possible to a large extent due to the fact that the staff of the University trusts the decisions taken by its President and implemented by the IT service together with the staff of the University. The human factor plays the key role in achieving the goals. In the organization of the work we follow the simple principles: to be successful in a career, you should take up what you can do professionally, prioritize prospects by understanding your responsibilities, to be consistent and not to be afraid of difficulties, to have a team of associates around.
